Ohio HB 333 Ignores Conscience Rights for health professionals and

<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103099230830&s=1461&e=001e7hbdz3D9Iz6mcblUwblAAHaoOoK7rc0bObwBx_h7WxTXdc1M_diPbc5Aj_c8TuZpAC_uFgPFLydUwrJuck0jXRG0eXx_bwHKX4oXC7rv6k=>:
H.B. 333, which was introduced by State Rep. Dan Stewart (D, Columbus)
in October, has been advancing in the Ohio House Health Committee. A
hearing was held for proponents of the bill on February 24 and the bill
is scheduled for proponent, opponent and interested party testimony on
Wednesday, March 3.

The bill tramples on the conscience rights of Pharmacists and medical
professionals and religious hospitals.

Under H.B. 333:
Hospital emergency rooms, including those at religiously-affiliated
hospitals, are required to provide the morning-after pill (referred to
as "emergency contraception") to victims of sexual assault. Hospitals
would be required to inform the women that abortifacient so-called
'emergency contraception' "does not cause an abortion" or "interrupt an
established pregnancy." (Because abortifacient so-called "emergency
contraception" in some cases may cause the death of an early human
embryo by preventing implantation after creation has occurred, this
information would be very misleading to any person who believes that
life begins at creation.)

If a hospital violates these requirements, the Ohio Department of Health
can impose a civil penalty of at least $10,000 with no limit on the
maximum penalty. If there is a second violation, the State can seek an
injunction to close the hospital.

ACTION: Please contact your Ohio State Representative and urge him or
her to oppose H.B. 333, which would force hospital emergency rooms,
including those at religiously-affiliated hospitals, to distribute the
morning-after pill, which, in some cases, may cause an early abortion.

You can find the contact information for your State Representative by
entering your ZIP code at www.house.state.oh.us
<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103099230830&s=1461&e=001e7hbdz3D9Iz7ODI7EmYNQrcvCUPtalk5JQPwizgBM_XumfyqcRJAJGXshSLEHGG3YolSEOXYYGqMNUsQfQ4uOzy-MHNgBN6nJXj2yimFB89W6oxrR5QIYA==>.

Background information:
HB 333 violates the conscience rights of pro-life pharmacists and other
health care workers and religiously-affiliated hospitals by forcing them
to distribute the abortifacient so-called "morning-after pill", which,
in some cases, might cause the death of a living human embryo.

The State of Ohio should not coerce Pharmacists and other health care
providers into violating their religious and moral objections against
ending a human life. The bill requires hospital emergency rooms to give
women misleading information that the morning-after pill does not cause
an abortion or interrupt an "established pregnancy".

This information would only be relevant in obtaining the informed
consent of persons who had moral concerns about abortion, and those are
precisely the persons who are most likely to be misled by it. Although
supporters of this bill claim to be "pro-choice", their bill would deny
pro-life pharmacists and health care workers in the health care
professions the "freedom to choose" not to participate in the
destruction of human life.

This bill would require health care providers to violate the original
Hippocratic Oath which stated: "I will neither give a deadly drug to
anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect.
Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy." If the State
of Ohio decides that the desire for immediate access to the
morning-after pill for rape victims requires health care providers and
facilities to provide it despite their moral objections, it will set a
precedent for using a similar argument to require health care providers
and facilities to provide surgical abortions.

The abortifacient so-called "morning-after pill" is already widely
available at many retail pharmacies (over-the-counter for adults, male
or female and by prescription for minors under age 17), yet the
proponents of this bill want to force even pro-life hospitals to
dispense it. Although proponents of the bill claim it is needed to
improve access to health care, the bill allows the State to close a
hospital for failing to distribute the morning-after pill. How would
closing a hospital improve access to health care for anyone? Allowing
adult males to buy the abortifacient pills like Plan B could help
perpetuate incest and rape situations and their cover-up.

Judie Brown Joins Fellow Pontifical Academy Members in Decrying
Archbishop Fisichella Controversy

WASHINGTON, Feb. 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- American Life League
President Judie Brown, a three-term member of the Pontifical Academy for
Life, joined Venezuelan Christine Vollmer, chairwoman for Alliance for
the Family and four other Academy members in questioning Archbishop Rino
Fisichella's statement as head of the pontifical organization.

In March 2009 Archbishop Fisichella published an article that appeared
to condone abortion in certain circumstances.

The four members of the Pontifical Academy for Life, now joined by
Brown, insist that Archbishop Fisichella's article, and his recent
statements to the Academy's General Assembly, adhering to the contents
of that article, have caused widespread confusion about the Church's
position on so-called therapeutic abortion.

"Archbishop Fisichella's statements and articles appearing to condone
the killing of preborn babies in certain circumstances risk adding to
the moral chaos of our confused society," Brown said.

"Archbishop Fisichella has, by his own writing, misrepresented the
magisterial teaching of the Catholic Church on the grave question of
abortion. By admonishing the Bishop of Recife, Brazil, and extending
'compassion' to the Catholic doctors who aborted two preborn babies, the
archbishop has perhaps unwittingly played directly into the hands of the
anti-Catholic media, distorted the Catholic position and currently
refuses to admit his error. We pray he sees this and corrects the false
interpretation of Catholic teaching."

When consulted, Vollmer agreed:

"Archbishop Fisichella's introductory speech to the Pontifical Academy
for Life General Assembly, claiming that the Doctrine of the Faith
'Clarification' of July 11 agreed with his article is a continuation of
his defense of 'therapeutic abortion' and the doctor's right to decide,
which is of course unacceptable at a Papal Academy dedicated to the
protection of all innocent human life. Many prominent abortion advocates
have celebrated this confusion. As Academicians we want to clear up any
confusion that this curial official has sown in the minds of the faithful."

Brown emphasized that since the archbishop's original remarks defending
the purveyors of abortion, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the
Faith has reiterated Catholic teaching that abortion is an intrinsically
evil act and is never to be permitted. For more information see reports
by the news agency, Chiesa: "Retractions: The Holy Office Teaches
Archbishop Fisichella a Lesson."

Dear Friends:

For many years, the abortion industry and its allies took pleasure in
accusing their opponents of "hating" women. Yet, studies conducted
during the last 53 years have provided overwhelming evidence that
abortion increases the risks of breast cancer and subsequent premature
births. Abortionists and their allies in science have so little concern
for women that they have never bothered to do animal studies to
demonstrate the safety of abortion. Abortion, in other words, is what
quacks do.

The burden of proof that abortion is indeed "safe" is on those who
defend the safety of abortion (i.e. Planned Parenthood), not on those
who challenge safety.

It's as clear as daylight that the abortion industry and its allies lied
about their concern for women's health. They don't care if women die of
breast cancer - in large numbers; and politicians who support abortion
on demand appear to be willing to do Planned Parenthood's bidding at any
cost, even if it means they have to climb over the bodies of thousands
of women who will die of breast cancer because of their abortions.

Now you have a chance to show that the abortion industry lied when its
leaders claimed you don't care about women's health.

*We urge you to share two, powerful, new resources - palm cards
<http://www.abortionbreastcancer.com/store/cards/> and our latest
YouTube video <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSmma0COO1E> - *that will
help you and crisis pregnancy centers in spreading the word that
abortion raises breast cancer risk. Please share these resources with
your local crisis pregnancy center.

*First, crisis pregnancy centers can link to our new YouTube video
available here.* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSmma0COO1E
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSmma0COO1E&feature=player_embedded>

<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSmma0COO1E&feature=player_embedded>

*The video reveals an admission from National Cancer Institute branch
chief Louise Brinton that abortion raises breast cancer risk.* Brinton
was an abortion-breast cancer link denier and served as the chief
organizer of the National Cancer Institute's infamous workshop in 2003,
which claimed the link's non-existence was "well-established." Her
admission was made in a study published last year, Dolle et al. 2009,
which primarily focused on the link between oral contraceptive use and
triple-negative breast cancer, a vicious form of breast cancer
associated with a high mortality rate.

*Help us make the new video go viral* by publishing it on Twitter,
FaceBook and your website. E-mail it to family and friends.

*Second, we have an additional, new resource called "palm cards
<http://www.abortionbreastcancer.com/store/cards/>." *

They are available here: *http://www.abortionbreastcancer.com/store/cards/*

These are the size of postcards, and they educate on the breast cancer
risks of abortion and oral contraceptives. They can be distributed at
cancer walks, crisis pregnancy centers, churches and conferences at a
low cost. You can order them by contacting us at *1-877-803-0102 (toll
