*50 Lawsuits in IN Exposing Dangers of Abortifacient Birth Control;
25,000 more nationwide
*
*Washington, DC (16 February 2010)* -- Over 50 women in Indiana are
filing lawsuits against Bayer Pharmaceuticals charging that use of the
company's Yaz and Yasmin hormonal birth control pills caused conditions
ranging from gallbladder-related injuries to strokes.
There are now over 25,000 similar reported cases across the United States.
"We're seeing an increasing awareness of the very real health risks
associated with hormonal birth control," said Marie Hahnenberg, project
director of American Life League's The Pill Kills project. "For years,
criticism of birth control has been a sacrosanct topic, but the victims
of hormonal birth control are too numerous to ignore any longer."
American Life League' s annual Protest the Pill Day on June 5 seeks to
educate women on the dangers of hormonal birth control -- a class one
carcinogen on the same level as tobacco -- through protests and activism
at birth control retailers nationwide.
"The birth control pill, patch, IUD, and similar birth control products
can cause blood clots, heart attacks and pulmonary embolisms,"
Hahnenberg said. "How many lawsuits, injuries and even deaths could be
prevented if only women were properly warned, or better yet, if these
dangerous drugs were taken off the market?"

Abortion Resolution*
Last year, OCA urged members of the Ohio Senate to introduce a
resolution to stop FOCA, the so-called Freedom of Choice Act, which
President Obama promised NARAL, Planned Parenthood and other abortion
groups would be the first bill he would sign in office. *FOCA was never
introduced*. Instead, the radical abortion lobby worked behind the
scenes with Democratic members of Congress to add a number of the
provisions of FOCA in the Federal Health Care Bill. A number of
amendments to restrict or limit federal funding of abortion were never
considered or, in the case of the Nelson-Hatch Amendment, were voted down.
*The concern now is that federal funding of abortion will be implemented
into other federal legislation. SCR-6 will send a strong message
opposing any expansion of federal funding of abortion. *
*SCR-6 is scheduled for a floor vote on Wednesday, February 17th. Call
you State Senator and urge him/her to support SCR-6,* *Prevention of

The following report details work by sidewalk counselors at the Family
Planning Associates abortion clinic in Long Beach [in California]. The
clinic is located at 2777 Long Beach Blvd. southeast of the 405 and 710
intersection. Roberta, Hispanic (1/04/10) came with her boyfriend. Had
two children and many bills; they felt they couldn't afford a baby and
they were not getting along. Told both of them as parents they are
supposed to protect this child as they would their other children. She
had a previous abortion and after explaining what abortion is, she said
she didn't know what abortion was and said she was not going to abort;
they never entered FPA.

Personhood Colorado submitted signatures to the Secretary of State's
office today for the Colorado Personhood Amendment. The signatures

A judge gave a 53-year prison sentence to a man convicted of shooting a
pregnant teller during a bank robbery and causing the deaths of her
unborn twins. The April 2008 shooting led to a change in state law
increasing the prison term for anyone who murders or attempts to murder
a pregnant woman and causes the loss of her unborn child.
