NEW ROUND OF FORCED STERILIZATIONS IN CHI-COMS **GRIM REMINDER OF
"CONTRACEPTIVE", ABORTION CULTURE*
*Washington, DC (23 April 2010)* -- Communist China shocked the world
anew this week with its latest forced-sterilization campaign in Puning
City. Population controllers aimed to sterilize 10,000 men and women by
April 27.
"The world is condemning this as a brutal human rights atrocity," said
Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League, "but how far is the
United States from this reality? We already subsidize sterilizations,
birth control and abortion for the poor in this country and around the
world. President Obama's new health care policy incentivizes population
reduction. Are we not also, like China, eliminating "undesirables" from
our society?"
"China is merely farther along the same road the United States is
travelling," Sedlak continued, "one in which human rights and the very
nature of man, woman and the family are first devalued, then
disregarded and finally persecuted."
Twenty-five million men in China are unable to find brides because so
many girls are murdered shortly after birth. China's brutal one-child
policy is often enforced by violence, imprisonment and coercion
techniques. In Puning, the parents of those couples who will not comply
are reportedly being "detained" by authorities.
"While we distractedly look at China, we must also face our own human
rights abuses. Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger's eugenics
philosophy is alive and well in poor neighborhoods and ghettos around
the country," Sedlak said.
"Population control, eugenics, abortion and sterilization to eliminate
undesirables are a reality not just in China -- but right here, right
now in Washington, D.C. and all over the United States."

*Interested in "going green"? Then protest the birth control pill and
help save our environment! Scientists around the world have discovered
that high amounts of synthethic estrogen, resulting from use of hormonal
contraceptives, are now entering our water and are feminizing male
fish! If fish are being affected by the high estrogen levels now found
in streams, and scientists are also concerned about estrogen levels in
our cities' water supply, then HOW SAFE IS YOUR DRINKING WATER? For more

The Virginia General Assembly has approved budget changes requested by
pro-life Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell on Wednesday, which would
prohibit state funding for elective abortions except in cases of rape,
incest, fetal abnormality or when the life of the mother is in
jeopardy. The amendment stops the state from having to reimburse
Medicaid abortions justified for "health" reasons, and could potentially
save hundreds of preborn babies from abortion per year.

A trucker who stunned a small Michigan community by killing an abortion
protester and a businessman was sentenced Thursday to life in prison
during a court hearing that began with an apology and ended with a
verbal attack on the judge. Harlan Drake said he was sorry for causing
pain to the families of his victims. But minutes later, he seemed bored
by the hearing, urged the judge to "get on with this" and called him a
racist and a hypocrite. Shiawassee County Circuit Judge Gerald Lostracco
lamented that he could not order "hard labor" along with the life sentence.

While numerous pro-life protesters who were arrested for trespassing at
the University of Notre Dame last year continue to face up to a year in
prison and a $5,000 fine, anti-military and pro-gay demonstrators who
were previously arrested on campus had their charges dropped, according
to a shocking new investigation by the Sycamore Trust. Furthermore, the
president of the University, Fr. John Jenkins, has reportedly refused to
discuss the disparate treatment .

**/The birth-control riddle/*
Despite all of the birth control options available today, the rates of
unplanned pregnancies remain high: Almost half of all pregnancies in the
U.S.---some 3.1 million a year---are unintended, according to the most
recent government survey, from 2001. Almost half (48%) of unintended
pregnancies involve contraceptive failures.

/Birth control pill concerns bring lawsuits but few solid answers/*
When the oral contraceptives Yasmin and Yaz came on the market in 2001
and 2006, respectively, they were thought to be safer than other birth
control pills because they contained a different kind of synthetic
progestin. But in a flurry of lawsuits against the pills' maker, Bayer
HealthCare, attorneys claim that the progestin contained in the pills,
drospirenone, is the cause of health problems, including deep vein
thrombosis (blood clots in the deep veins), strokes, heart attacks and
gallbladder disease.

*/*Abortion, suicide often hand-in-hand*
/Mental health risks are becoming increasingly associated with women who
have had an abortion. According to Dr. David Reardon, director of the
Elliot Institute, a number of studies indicate an elevated risk of
suicide following an abortion. "About [one]-fourth of women who report
having negative reactions to abortion will also report that they
attempted suicide at least once, and suicidal thoughts are even more
common," Reardon reports.

*More University of Wisconsin ties to Planned Parenthood//*
Last week's Monday Update highlighted the Planned Parenthood internships
offered by University of Wisconsin System colleges throughout our state.
Pro-Life Wisconsin *has submitted a formal request

*to Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen concerning UW's training
of future abortionists at Planned Parenthood in Madison.
But just how tied to Planned Parenthood is the University of
Wisconsin-Madison, the "flagship" of the UW System?
The following items are linked to supporting websites:
- *UW promotes Planned Parenthood

Chief Judge Scopelitis Allows Thomas More Society's Special Counsel Tom
Dixon to Pursue Discovery in ND88 Case, Lifting Stay Ordered by Prior
Judge; Jenkins continues Stubborn Uncharitable Stance
CHICAGO, Ill., April 26 /Christian Newswire/ -- In a major ruling--which
ultimately could prove decisive for the defense--St. Joseph County,
Ind., Superior Court Chief Judge Michael P. Scopelitis lifted a stay
order that barred lead defense attorney Tom Dixon from pursuing
discovery from Notre Dame officials. Dixon represents the 88 pro-lifers
<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103342291054&s=16890&e=001oDPGeSAZj6EJfwwKoMn8Kco57UQNGDZedl6A9YWfWBpiOLUy1RPTV0hC90NqSoCxvUmd85PgFTSIb43xo4cm6Ij4y1-VafBlQhj2e6lLWNVlw7aNvD-94g==>
who peacefully assembled against the Catholic university's decision to
honor the vehemently pro- abortion President Barack Obama. By allowing
discovery, Judge Scopelitis authorizes Dixon to pursue testimony under
oath from said officials who were key decision makers in the arrest of
the ND88
<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103342291054&s=16890&e=001oDPGeSAZj6EJfwwKoMn8Kco57UQNGDZedl6A9YWfWBpiOLUy1RPTV0hC90NqSoCxvUmd85PgFTSIb43xo4cm6Ij4y1-VafBlQhj2e6lLWNVlw7aNvD-94g==>.
It will also allow him to subpoena documents that may shed light on the
college's apparent inconsistency regarding the arrest and prosecution of
other groups and individuals participating in similar on-campus events.
"The lifting of this stay on discovery is very significant," said Tom
Brejcha, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Society
<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103342291054&s=16890&e=001oDPGeSAZj6FSwQ5hMOVDQNzv32tTD7JV00uWrebMBWU_yO2bKtyoBrfOFaNujFz3CGds7JuOEONPIb9ubcU9L1B9jtN21R6fN53_1pbCnvfcb_ruMp-4W3iazy9ZAtVa>.
"A Notre Dame alumni group, Sycamore Trust, recently reported that
homosexual rights and anti-ROTC protesters received, at worst, mere
slaps on the wrist for leading unauthorized protests on campus. We
believe that through discovery we may well uncover evidence that the
Notre Dame police engaged in 'viewpoint discrimination:' that the
university singled out the ND88 for especially harsh treatment."
The stay order had been issued late last year by Hon. Jenny Pitts Manier
<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?et=1103342291054&s=16890&e=001oDPGeSAZj6FQWyunhcPNofozJo91fuvpH7ZD_oeI54seagz6nJQ041aqa4LKQSq3u0FzkXVL4lgZLpd_fHPVO00Ju35tSWEgflIVXd5MGCtWb4Spsl1w-5CRWtpowpCMFknCDvOsCZI=>,
the original judge assigned to these cases. Judge Manier later recused
herself from hearing the cases because of apparent conflicts of interest
raised by Attorney Dixon. Judge Manier had certified her rulings against
recusal for immediate appeal, but after the appeal was filed, she
stepped aside of her own accord.
Judge Scopelitis also ruled that once discovery is completed, he may
convene an evidentiary hearing to review the defendants' "global" legal
defenses before any individual trials. "Put simply, this does not mean
the judge is insensitive to our legal defenses, but that he wants to be
sure that they are presented in the appropriate procedural vehicle,"
explained Dixon.
The Thomas More Society has urged Notre Dame University president, the
Rev. John Jenkins, C.S.C., to request that the charges be dropped
against the ND88 in the same way that trespass charges were previously
dropped against homosexual rights activists and anti-military protesters
on the Notre Dame campus. Up to now, Fr. Jenkins has not acted on that
request.
