*AB 67 Denies Conscientious Objection*
*- OPPOSE -*
*__*
Sacramento -- AB 67,* /Pharmacy Patient Protection Act of 2008/* by Assemblyman Pedro Nava (D- Santa Barbara)
sets its sights on pharmacists in the latest attempt to enmesh members of the medical profession in abortion. AB 67 will
be heard in the Assembly Business and Professions Committee next Tuesday, April 21, *but your input is needed
by this Friday (tomorrow) to be acknowledged in the bill analysis*. Please take immediate action below to protect the
right of pharmacists to say "No" to abortion. Your recent efforts helped stop AB 120 and SB 374, which attacked doctors
and nurses. Let's do it again for the pharmacists and protect all members of the medical profession.
*_WHAT'S WRONG WITH AB 67?_*
AB 67 would deny pharmacists the right of refusing involvement with
chemical abortions on moral or religious grounds currently protected by
the California Constitution. Under threat of suspending their license,
AB 67 would force ethical pharmacists to fill
a Plan B prescription, which kills a human embryo, the smallest and
youngest of human beings. Assemblyman Pedro Nava is attempting to
redefine the state Constitution, Section 4 of Article 1, with this
heavy-handed unconstitutional bill that reads:
"A pharmacist shall dispense prescriptions irrespective of the pharmacist's ethical, moral, or religious
objections. The liberty of conscience, within the meaning of Section 4 of Article I of the California
Constitution, shall not be lawful grounds for a pharmacist to fail to dispense a prescription.
The California Constitution, Section 4 of Article I states:
"Free exercise and enjoyment of religion without discrimination or preference are guaranteed. This liberty
of conscience does not excuse acts that are licentious or inconsistent with the peace or safety of the State."
Don't let pro-abortion advocates come into the medical community through
the pharmacy back door.
