*MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! TIME RUNNING OUT FOR PRO-LIFE MEDICAL WORKERS*

*Washington, D.C. (23 September 2008)* -- You have only two more days to
make your voice heard and help defend freedom of conscience for pro-life
medical workers!

The public comment period of the Department of Health and Human Services
regulation protecting pro-life medical workers from discrimination will
end Sep. 25. Pro-abortion advocates are clamoring to stop the regulation
and have flooded the DHHS Web site with hundreds of messages. They have
already succeeded in lobbying DHHS Secretary Mike Leavitt to remove
language that defined abortion to include the birth control pill.

Pro-aborts want this regulation to fail. They want to force pro-life
medical workers to participate in medical and surgical abortions. DHHS
has already submitted to their demands.

"Please help the brave medical workers who stand up for the life of the
preborn by writing and demanding the DHHS protect medical workers from
all forced participation in abortions of any kind -- medical, surgical
or chemical," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "Tell
Mike Leavitt not to submit to pro-death demands -- to return to the
original language of the regulation and protect health care workers from
all discriminatory policies."

The HHS proposal "Ensuring that Department of Health and Human Services
Funds Do Not Support Coercive or Discriminatory Policies or Practices in
Violation of Federal Law" was released August 21 and would enforce
nation-wide protection and anti-discrimination regulations for pro-life
pharmacists and medical workers.

According to HHS, the regulation would:

    * "Clarify that non-discrimination protections apply to
institutional health care providers as well as to individual employees
working for recipients of certain funds from HHS;
    * "Require recipients of certain HHS funds to certify their
compliance with laws protecting provider conscience rights;
    * "Designate the HHS Office for Civil Rights as the entity to
receive complaints of discrimination addressed by the existing statutes
and the proposed regulation; and
    * "Charge HHS officials to work with any state or local government
or entity that may be in violation of existing statutes and the proposed
regulation to encourage voluntary steps to bring that government or
entity into compliance with the law. If, despite the Department's
efforts, compliance is not achieved, HHS officials will consider all
legal options, including termination of funding and the return of funds
paid out in violation of the nondiscrimination provisions."

"Don't let the pro-death lobbyists stamp this important legislation with
their despicable agendas, and by so doing kill one of the most basic
American freedoms. Our pro-life doctors and nurses and pharmacists
deserve freedom of conscience!"
